The exhibition will present works of art created in a variety of casting techniques - from ancient art to the latest technology. Works made in bronze, wax, liquid clay, porcelain, polymers and other materials will be exhibited. The exhibition will explore the mysteries inherent in working with materials which are transformed from liquid to solid, from a state of movement to a state of solidity. The works will reflect the expressive power and the unique properties of art made using various casting processes.
THE READYMADE CENTENNIAL
The year was 1913, the place - Paris. Marcel Duchamp was then 26 years old. He took a bicycle wheel and a kitchen stool, fastened them together via the fork of the bike, and placed this work in his studio. He coined the term "readymade" two years later, when he was in New York.
