Olaf Breuning is a prominent international artist who resides in New York and works in the fields of photography, sculpture, drawing and video. His work deals with cultural and social stereotypes in a way that is blunt yet misleading in it's seriousness. "Groups", Olaf Bruining's extensive solo exhibition in the Haifa Museum of Art includes staged photographs from the last decade which include groups in different situations and apparel. In addition his trilogy of movies "Home" will be screened. "Home" describes in a caricature like way the journey of an enthusiastic tourist portrayed by the actor Brian Kerstetter, while he encounters different cultures around the world. His eccentric personality and his vast excitement regarding the local traditions that are perceived as obvious expose the artificial nature of their cultural portrayal.
On the opening night at 9pm on the museum patio Olaf Breuning's "Color Flairs" - an installation of different colored flairs on a metal grid - will be performed.
