Tsuyoshi Ozawa

Born in 1965 in Tokyo. He lives in Saitama Prefecture.

Ozawa began the "Jizoing" project (1987 to the present) in his student days, and it stems from his desire to make art every day. It is a kind of diary of his movements and travels, from the suburbs of Tokyo to Tibet, Moscow and Israel, and in every photograph there is an image of the Buddhist deity Jizo, who protects children and travellers. At first Jizo appeared in the pictures in the form of clay figurines made by Ozawa, but later Ozawa drew Jizo's outline, visible only to attentive viewers, on the ground, walls or on colourful adhesive paper. The smoky blue photographs are intended to remind viewers of twilight, a special time of day for Ozawa, when reality becomes mysterious and peaceful
