Dumb Type

The group was founded in 1984 in Kyoto.

The dumb type group is famous around the world for its massive, spectacular performances, which combine contemporary choreography, theatre, video art, installations and music. In the group's performances, as is characteristic of the Internet age, there is never a single narrative, the border between the real and the virtual is erased, and the leading part goes to human body - as a carrier of national, cultural and gender identities that rapidly change under the influence of social and political processes. The exhibited work "pH" (1990) recreated the atmosphere of a megalopolis, in which corporation logos have long turned into a familiar element of the landscape.
